Here's a question. We've seen a few variations of NS terms... Some with freelook but no jump, some with both, some with modified weapons and gravity/air control. Which do you prefer?

I'm planning on creating a few more maps just like Xc7 which takes NS to the extreme (Very quakelike) are people for this idea? How did you find the Xc7 tourney settings? I know it's very far from how Doom is naturally played but I think it's good to have something that plays out different but comes from the same place.

Which brings me to my second point.

NS CTF. With a change of environment, IE weapon mods and different grav/ac. Maybe even if there was some way to change player speed and acceleration etc. Is this a ridiculous farfetched idea? The more I'm typing the more it sounds to be that way. What are your thoughts?

With ECL Season #2 approaching (And that being uber OS) would it be a good idea to get mappers involved in creating an NS equivalent mapset? this I'd like to have maps as similar to the way Xc7 plays as possible. Some of the so called 'NS' stuff is far too the same.

Opinions, please!

Thanks,

Those grandslam settings for xc7 were brilliant, the crazier the better, I say. Yeh, it's not Doom anymore, but some folks are using the same argument to criticize zdctf08 which is a classic ctf map. Quake-like is a way to go, make people move around and strategize fights for items. Keep the endless staring at walls for the pure oldschool settings/maps, NS should be pure action imo. And people loved it last month!

Oh, and NS CTF? We should try it and we'll see about that, I know I'd love to. Can imagine it could be pretty crazy (which means fun to me) with... lets say that +fastchainfastrockets addon.

Although I didn't take part in the xc7 tourney I enjoyed the combination of the map and the extreme settings. This was a really good idea, props for the/those who came up with that.
I'd like to suggest to make the RL deal less damage? How would that sound? I mean it was _Awesome when it dealt as much damage as it normally does, but think about it.
Something similar to the xc7 could, for my part, be included in the tourney. And anyoen who is up for mapping, might consider copying maps from Quake and make a DooM version of those? (I know might be hard and recuires a lot of work, but just an idea!)

as much as i like this idea (because i'd win it), i believe there wouldn't be such a competition from the euro elite.

cause they're all scared of me, of course.

Ok! Looks like I'll be creating an NS League sometime over the summer... I'll start a new thread somewhere about wanting mappers for this project!
